Artisan FAQ's
Khadi
Khadi refers to a handspun cloth, it differs from handloom cloth in that the thread for the loom is handspun in addition to the cloth itself. Khadi can be a number of different fibres, from wool to cotton or silk.
Some Khadi items appear rigid upon purchase, though will soften with washing and wear. Wash gently in cold water, using a mild detergent, dry in shade.
Desi Oon (Wool)
Wool that comes from Indigenous Indian sheep breeds, that are adapted to the local climates.
Much of our desi wool products come from the north of India, Rajasthan and Gujurat, where pastoral communities still weave their own woolen garments on a handloom.
Wool should be gently hand washed and dried flat in shade. Please do not over wash. If your garment requires a refresh, simply giving it a sunbath whilst it’s dry can freshen it up.
Kutch Vintage Pieces
The arid and harsh climate of Kutch fostered many pastoral communities where men and women traditionally held specific roles.
Being nomadic, possessions were limited to the essential, and the women brought life and joy to their essentials through the art of embroidery.
These pieces have been lovingly made over the years one stitch at a time, with many pieces taking months to complete. They are vintage pieces, and as such are in used condition
Block prints
From the deserts of Rajasthan sprung the
age old form of hand block printing.
Wooden blocks are hand carved, with 1 block created by skilled artisans for each element of the pattern.
Dye is then applied, using either direct, resist or the discharge method.
Each of our pieces are created by a human from start to finish, with the end result being akin to wearable art. We only use AZO free dyes

Leather
Our bags are skillfully handwoven by women in South India. There may be variations from piece to piece.
Each bag is made up of a number of woven strands, for this reason please do not carry everything and the kitchen sink around,( read: it can’t handle excessive weight)
Wipe your bag with a soft cloth to clean.
Never immerse the bag in water, and if it does get wet, dry immediately with a cloth then allow to air dry (do not use direct heat such as a hair dryer)
Store your bag in the dust bag when not in use. Keep the bag out of direct heat and sun.
If the bag loses shape, it can gently be stuffed to bring back the shape.
